Fundraising workshop - snail sculpture
Raising funds for the victims of Australia's devastating bushfires
SUNDAY JANUARY 19th
10am - 3pm
I'm sure that we speak for everyone when we say that it's difficult not to be shocked, distressed and moved by the utter devastation being caused to families, communities, wildlife and the earth itself.
All the proceeds from this workshop will go to charities supporting the victims of the bushfires.
Heather and I will be hosting a mini craftacular where you'll be working with both of us to create this snail mixed media sculpture.
Heather has designed a beaded base with concentric circles that reflect abstract indigenous Australian art. The design aims to honour our ancient Mother Earth. The needle felted snail is designed to represent both wildlife and home.
For those of you who don't like snails - you will be able to make a felted forest fungi as an alternative project.
The workshop will run from 10 - 3 with one hour for lunch.
Half the participants will spend two hours in the morning working with Heather to make the base and the rest will work with Tracey to make snails.
We will break for lunch and in the afternoon we will swap.
All tools and materials are provided.
We will provide refreshments throughout the day and we are asking participants to join us in a 'bring and share' lunch.
The workshop takes place in Tracey's Bideford studio on Bridgeland Street.
We will be making this workshop available as a kit to help raise further funds for humanitarian aid.
